David A. "Tony" Hoffman, Ph.D., is a licensed psychologist in private practice in Santa Cruz, CA, and a part-time staff lecturer at UCSC.

Tony's clinical practice is devoted exclusively to child and family psychology, with specialization in pediatric, school and developmental psychology. He also runs a psychological testing service for children and adolescents. Tony emphasizes cognitive-behavioral, family systems, and narrative approaches to psychotherapy and consultation.

Tony is a graduate of Reed College (B.A., 1977) and the University of Oregon (M.S. 1980, Ph.D., 1983). He was trained in developmental and clinical psychology in APA-accredited doctoral and post-doctoral programs. He is a member of the American Psychological Association, the California Psychological Association, the Monterey Bay Psychological Association, and Psychologists for Social Responsibility.

Tony's instructional interests at UCSC include: child and adolescent development, human psychopathology ("abnormal" psychology), developmental psychopathology, psychological assessment, war-affected children, and children in high risk situations.
